The Gas Lawnmower is Obsolete!

Over the last few months, I've been filling in for lawn work for my uncle. The last time I had to use a lawnmower was in 2012, back when I still had an actual backyard. It was the usual gas powered kind, very loud, tedious to start up and use. This kind of clunkiness is part of the reason why I didn't think very highly of the chore back then.

EGO electric lawnmower

This new lawnmower I've been using has really changed my perspective; it's really amazing stuff! The EGO Power+ LM2100SP is a cordless electric lawnmower powered by a 56V battery, and packs all the cutting power you'd expect from a gas mower. Compared to conventional lawnmowers, this thing is really quiet, so you don't need ear protection when working with it. It's also very light, making it easier to move around when you're dealing with complicated spots in your lawn.

Self-propulsion lever on EGO lawnmower

This lawnmower is easy to start up. No need to pull a string or press something in a few times for a cold start. You just hold down a button in front of you and pull the start lever! That already saves a little burden, but by far the best feature of this lawnmower is its self-propulsion.

Sure, you can just push the lawnmower around as you normally would, but by pressing in the green lever, you'll activate the motor for the two rear wheels, allowing the lawnmower to move forward on its own! The speed at which the lawnmower propels itself can be controlled by a dial on the other side. It's not like the driven kinds of lawnmowers with steering wheels, but this saves so much time and effort, making this kind of work far more tolerable!

Headlights on EGO lawnmower

This lawnmower also has some headlights that could be useful in certain situations; I recall seeing at least a few dark mornings. The battery that powers this lawnmower should last around 45 minutes to an hour, which should be plenty long enough for most lawns. Recharging doesn't take that long, either. You shouldn't need a second battery for this unless you've got a really large property volume.

The Ego Power+ LM2100SP is the future of lawnmowing. Given the sheer power, high efficiency, and minimal pollution of this electric lawnmower, I see no reason to go back to gas. There's not much more that needs to be said other than this: if you mow the lawn every week and you feel like you could have some better quality of life with it, make this your next lawnmower!

Huh, what an unexpected article to be posted. Maybe I could consider this EGO Power+ thing in the future?

Meanwhile having a lawn at all is such an American thing to me since here in the city most people just live in tall and narrow buildings due to historical reason.

Envious. Yeah my gas mower is a real drag.

My dad currently drives a tractor when mowing the lawn, which is usually pretty noisy. They're likely not in any hurry to get a new lawnmower, especially since they prefer to use what they have to the bitter end, but I will suggest them this model to take into future consideration.
