An interesting feature of the Program Manager era was the ability to watch a video in an icon when minimizing the Media Player program - something that would be lost in the transition to Windows 95.

Blue Horizon: I did not know Nathan has a YouTube channel.

Also, technically the taskbar thumbnail preview in NT6+ and the "live icons" are not the same? "Live icons" seems to be just animated icons while taskbar thumbnail preview shows what is on the programs. I could be wrong though.

A similar feature with Windows 1.0 and 2.x was the ability to watch "live icons" when minimized, as demonstrated by Nathan Lineback in his parody for Windows 8's advertising: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLcPbsfF3qI

We only even remotely saw the return of this feature when Windows Vista came around, though you still had to hover over the taskbar buttons to get a preview. There might've also been at least one third-party shell for 9x that brought this feature back.
